Ex-Armenian mayor's mother-in-law reportedly charged with money laundering

The mother-in-law of former Etchmiadzin Mayor Diana Gasparyan has been formally charged with money laundering, ArmLur.am reports.

Earlier, Zhoghovurd daily reported that the legal pressure surrounding Gasparyan was intensifying, with sources indicating that her mother-in-law would soon be summoned by the Anti-Corruption Committee for questioning.

The Anti-Corruption Committee has charged the former mayor with money laundering and abuse of office. Gasparyan was summoned to the committee, where she remained for approximately an hour. However, she declined to answer questions or provide testimony.

Gasparyan stepped down in May, citing personal reasons.
