On the eve of Armenia's Independence Day, the ruling Civil Contract party announced the establishment of the Fourth Republic of Armenia as a strategic goal. Constitutional law expert Gohar Meloyan, co-founder of the International Center on Development of Parliamentarism, strongly criticized the move as “anti-state, anti-Armenian and unlawful".
“As a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, I have not and do not give you my mandate,” she wrote on Facebook, expressing hope that citizens will soon strip the authorities of the chance to “implement their anti-Armenian conspiracies”.
Meloyan urged the opposition to take concrete action. “Civil Contract has outlined its anti-state vision and strategy and is already preparing for elections, launching a new phase of misleading the public. What are you doing? What are you offering the people?” she said.
The expert outlined what she expects from opposition forces: a program, proposals, solutions, a team, a leader and organized participation in electoral processes.
“There is no time left,” she added.
