Armenia sees sharp decline in marriages

Armenia is witnessing a sharp decline in marriages alongside a notable increase in divorces, according to the latest data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

During the period from January to August 2025, there were 354 divorces for every 1,000 registered marriages, marking a significant rise compared to the same period last year, when the figure stood at 292 divorces per 1,000 marriages.

In total, 3,179 divorces were officially recorded in the first eight months of this year, a 4.5% increase from the same period of 2024.

At the same time, the number of marriages in the country has dropped by 13.6%. While 10,405 marriages were registered between January and August 2024, the figure fell to 8,985 over the same months in 2025.
