Authorities probing death of senior ARF member's son

The Armenian law enforcement authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the death of Mkhitar Markarian, the son of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Bureau member Hrant Markarian.

The Investigative Committee said the case had been initiated on suspicion of incitement to suicide.

The incident occurred in the courtyard of a residential building on Papazyan Street in Yerevan late on Friday. Mkhitar Markarian was found with a gunshot wound to the throat and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injury.

Preliminary findings by the Interior Ministry suggest that Markarian committed suicide.
