Armenian lawyer raises alarm over detained student's case files

A lawyer representing 18-year-old detained student David Minasyan has accused investigators of withholding case materials despite a looming deadline.

Attorney Lusine Martirosyan said that as of 1:50 p.m. local time on Monday, investigators had not provided the full case files, even though the deadline for defense access was set for 2 p.m. She added that prosecutors have yet to respond to her complaint challenging the investigator’s April 11 decision to restrict the defense team’s time to review the materials.

Martirosyan described the situation as a continuing violation of the rights of her client, a 12th-grade student detained for two months following a church incident involving Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Palm Sunday.
