Macron marks Armenian Genocide anniversary

French President Emmanuel Macron has commemorated the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

"On April 24, France commemorates the 1915 Armenian Genocide and pays tribute to the memory of its victims," he posted on X.

"This day is a time to remember, to pass on the legacy of remembrance, and to reaffirm the enduring bond that unites France with Armenia and the French people with the Armenian people," Macron added.

France has formally recognized the Armenian Genocide. Macron designated April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in 2019.
