Karapetyan responds to Ter-Petrosyan's remarks

Former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan has voiced concern over potential instability in the aftermath of the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections, drawing a pointed response from businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, the leader of the Strong Armenia party.

Ter-Petrosyan, who ruled Armenia from 1991 to 1998, dismissed the significance of televised debates, describing them as “staged performances”. Instead, he warned that the post-election period could prove “fatal” for the nation if not managed carefully.

Speaking at a live-streamed press conference on Thursday, Karapetyan acknowledged the former president’s apprehensions but insisted his party is charting its own course. “Levon Ter-Petrosyan is an experienced politician. Recognizing Pashinyan, he has his worries,” Karapetyan said.

He added that Strong Armenia is focused on securing a decisive victory in the elections. “We are pursuing our own agenda, heading toward absolute victory,” Karapetyan said.
