Samvel Karapetyan reflects on charitable work

Armenian businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, the leader of the Strong Armenia party, has spoken about the origins of his charitable work, tracing it back to a deeply personal mission in his hometown of Tashir.

“It always weighed on me that Tashir had no church — perhaps the only region in Armenia without one. In 1994, we began building the Tashir church. Until then, the Catholic Church had been providing significant support to local residents,” Karapetyan recalled on Friday, highlighting the symbolic importance of faith in community life.

He stressed that all philanthropic initiatives have been funded from family resources. “Helping people brings me both emotion and joy,” he said, portraying generosity not as duty but as a source of personal fulfillment.

Karapetyan explained that he entrusted his children with responsibility from the age of 12. “I am confident they can develop the business even without my involvement,” he remarked.
