Civic activist Artur Chakhoyan has accused Yerevan’s Nor Nork district head of provocation after exposing poor construction at a local kindergarten in a social media video.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Chakhoyan stressed that the district head, Tigran Ter-Margaryan, called and threatened him over the video ahead of a scheduled public hearing on a high-rise development project.
"I didn’t call them, they called me," Chakhoyan said. "It could be a deliberate provocation to keep me from attending the public hearing."
He further criticized the Nor Nork administration for failure to publish the official invitation to the meeting on its website, calling it a deliberate effort to suppress public involvement.
"For the first time, citizens were not allowed to attend a public hearing," he stressed.
