Edgar Ghazaryan, a civic activist and co-founder of the We Are Awake movement, has pushed back against claims that members of Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party would never support a move to impeach Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Ghazaryan pointed to several former allies of Pashinyan who broke ranks following Armenia’s defeat in the 2020 war and subsequently became his vocal critics.
“Those who believe that Civil Contract MPs would never support impeachment proceedings against Nikol Pashinyan should remember that after the 9 November 2020 capitulation, several MPs left the My Step faction led by Pashinyan and became vocal opponents of his administration,” the activist wrote.
Among those he named were Anna Grigoryan, Taguhi Tovmasyan, Arsen Julfalakyan, Sofia Hovsepyan, Gor Gevorgyan and Tatevik Hayrapetyan.
