Another ruling party MP refuses to meet with Edgar Ghazaryan

Edgar Ghazaryan, a civic and political activist leading the We Are Awake movement, visited Armenia’s National Assembly on Tuesday to advocate for the launch of impeachment proceedings against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. However, members of the ruling Civil Contract party once again declined to meet with him.

The activist claimed that Civil Contract has seemingly made a collective decision to avoid such meetings, suggesting the MPs are unwilling to confront arguments related to government accountability and the proposed impeachment process. “Their behavior will not go without consequences,” he told reporters.

Ghazaryan revealed that MP Emma Palyan refused to meet with him on Monday and announced plans to file a criminal complaint for alleged discrimination. Similar complaints have already been submitted against Deputy Speakers Ruben Rubinyan and Hakob Arshakyan for declining to engage with him.

Today, the National Assembly's Citizen Reception and Document Circulation Department told Ghazaryan that MP Davit Karapetyan, a member of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, also deemed it inappropriate to meet with him. Ghazaryan will submit another complaint to the chief prosecutor on Wednesday concerning Karapetyan’s refusal.
