Strong Armenia bloc submits election list to CEC

The Strong Armenia electoral alliance on Wednesday submitted its candidate list to the Central Election Commission (CEC) ahead of the June 7 parliamentary elections.

CEC press secretary Seda Ghukasyan told reporters that three political forces had so far formally lodged their lists, including the ruling Civil Contract party, the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party and the Meritocratic Party of Armenia.

According to Ghukasyan, the commission has received 23 preliminary applications to date, though she cautioned that these do not necessarily translate into official nominations. “Having an account does not mean a party will proceed with formal registration,” she noted.

The deadline for submitting nomination documents is April 23 at 6:00 p.m. local time.

Representatives of the Strong Armenia bloc were at the CEC on Wednesday to file their paperwork.
