Voting has closed in the local council elections in the enlarged Armenian community of Vagharshapat, where 25,655 people — 36.72% of eligible voters — cast ballots as of 5 p.m., officials said. Eight political forces competed under a proportional system.
According to official data released on 12 November, 69,866 citizens were eligible to vote across 47 polling stations, including 23 in the town of Etchmiadzin and the rest in 18 villages. A total of 117 electronic identification devices were used. The Central Electoral Commission accredited 31 media outlets and six observer missions, two of them joint.
